LACERTA BILINEATA ♀ A dark green wonder...

Female lacerta bilineata come in all colors; unlike the males of the species, which usually have a rather distinct, typical look once they're fully grown (though there are variations too), the females can look anything from striking blue to earth brown and everything in between and display all kinds of color patterns on their backs and sides. This particular female in the pictures below was something special, as I've never seen an even remotely similar looking other lacerta bilineata. Her dark green colors mixed with brown made for the perfect camouflage, and if she hadn't visited that particular rock (which is definitely the most popular rock among the lizards in my garden as everyone and their reptilian grandmother seem to have stood on it at one point or another), I would never have been able to spot her. I only saw her this once and never since.
